the usual tired old comments: 'You could see that we dropped physically today. It was a game of contrast between two halves but I felt as well that mentally we kept going and we have been absolutely remarkable on that front. But I believe that the first goal was a big shock for us because we didn’t see that coming in the first half and maybe we didn’t recover from that.' Whats new? - -we usually drop physically, but we DO look like we are about to concede in most games. What does he watch? Go and sit higher up in the stands for God's sake.

on Koscielny, Giroud and Ozil's availability for Leicester… 'We will try, but when they have not enough preparation they get injured.'
But if you give players extended holidays EVERY year they will never have 'enough preparation' the way your fitness science judges it. In my memory some of the 'best players ever' smoked, drank, spent hours in the betting shop before a game, and ate whatever like liked. This measurement bollocks can go beyond commonsense, and what is required for the club.

Cech was impressed with the maturity that Calum Chambers and debutant Rob Holding showed at the back.
WTF. Most of the match they were protected by our midfield droping back, but even then showed little positional sense or experience. What can you expect from young players thrown in the deep end against quality like Coutinho? At one point Pool had 3 unmarked players just outside the box on our left side. The ball comes over and they score. What other result do you expect?

Player ratings. (why do I bother?).
Cech 6: Looked edgy ( with those 2 CBs who wouldn't)- too far his left side for Coutinho's dead ball goal.
Bellerin 6: Attacking OK - defence job a bit lacking.
Holding 5: A frightening debut match but if he gets experience might be ok.
Chambers 4: Usual headless chicken - only 1 MAJOR clearance cockup.
Monreal 5: Probably affected by trying to protect the CBs. Not his usual contribution.
Coquelin 6: Robust to the point of concern.Tried to stamp his authority but the tide kept coming.
Elneny 6: He had a good first half, but seemed to lose his role as the game went on.
Ramsey 6: His preferred role, but not the Euros standard. Gradually became the indifferent player he was for most of the games he played last season. Now injured?
Walcott 5: Forced a stupid error from Pool, but telegraphed his spotkick. Made amends with a well placed shot a minute later. We didn't see much else for the rest of the game. Pretty much sums up what he was like last season.
Sanchez 5: Played out of position and it showed. Tried and chased but was largely ineffective.
Iwobi 6: Decent first half and assisted on Walcott’s goal. Gradually retreated and hurt his thigh?
Substitutes:
Oxlade-Chamberlain 7: Inventive solo goal, tried to bring urgency to the show, but also made mistakes.
Cazorla 6: Assist on Chambers' headed goal. His corner kicks were dangerous. Kept up his ability to score 2 Rugby Union points with ease. Why does he EVER take a shot?
Xhaka 5: PL requires more than late tackles to be effective, although Paul Scholes managed it. Will have to rein in his aggression or be a liability.

Player ratings.
Cech 4: Looks too slow and old now. Bellerin 2: He's a defender so judged on that. Rubbish. Holding 2: Way out of his depth. Chambers 3: Not good enough for this level and showed it on the day. Monreal 3: Constantly left too much space. poor Coquelin 5: Tried, but with second rate players around him , looked average Elneny 4: Not enough ball winning from our ball winner. Ramsey 2: Proved once again that he is incapable of competing at PL level Walcott 4: A good finish but the rest was awful including a penalty miss that i KNEW he would miss. Sanchez 2: Another horrible start to the season from a player looking to leave. Iwobi 6: MOTM even thout he had to go off - injured... another one.
Substitutes: Oxlade-Chamberlain 2: Good goal, but a bit lucky... the rest of his game was atrocious. Totally brainless and lazy football. Cazorla 1: Worst player on the pitch. Constantly over did it and lost possession. Terrible shooting. Xhaka 2: Poor control, poor passing, late to the challenge. Looks like a terrible buy.
Wenger 0 - he's f***** it up again.

our score cards differ in value, but you have to agree we ARE NOT IMPRESSED. An alarming season starting like it always does - from one of the world's best managers...a hmmm.

well yes, BUT the signs were there after the last end of season game. Being handed 2nd place after another Spurs meltdown triggered Wenger's deluded view of the squad, new signings? - pah!
